What is the AEC?
The Spanish Association of Directors of Photography is an association of professionals who promote and aspire to the highest standards of visual quality for the film industry.
The AEC recognizes the responsibility to maintain a high level of technical and artistic aptitude, competence and skill, and to connect with the audience through visual language. With artistic continuity and improvement, we want to strengthen the public’s confidence in our profession and promote cinematographic and cultural development in Spain and the world.
The Association is governed by its statutes and bylaws, as well as by O.L. 1/2002 of March 22, 2002, regulating the right of association and its complementary provisions.
Who makes up the AEC?
The Directors of Photography are the main base of the AEC.
They are professionals responsible for carrying out the visual and narrative structure of a project in any of its forms (feature film, short film, television series, etc.), maintaining a high degree of diligence in the execution of their technical and artistic work, with impeccable conduct both on and off the film set.
Professional Conduct
It is essential that the Director of Photography complies with the principles of professional ethics with his or her peers, colleagues, clients, suppliers and other professionals, whether or not they are in the film industry and under any circumstances.
Inappropriate behavior can destroy years of effort and work of an entire collective that works to obtain a reputation and distinction in the film industry in particular, and in society in general.
The AEC Director of Photography must be aware at all times of the commitment he or she has to the profession and that it must be a priority so that both the professional and the profession are respected. It is essential to adopt and defend certain principles in daily practice.
Implicit in professional ethics are several attributes such as honesty, zeal, loyalty, efficiency, education, respect, team spirit and recognition of rights and duties.
This can be considered a guide to exemplary behavior in the industry, and is intended to defend and preserve the profession and all those who work in the film industry directly or indirectly.
